There may have been clouds over Cricklade and strong winds forecast for Wootton Bassett when Richard Angwin gave his TV weather predictions last Friday but there was a big Blue Cross over Marlborough on his weather map.

During his BBC Points West weather bulletin Mr Angwin plugged the fact the he would be officially opening the Blue Cross charity shop in Marlborough on Saturday.

He lives at Wanborough and had accepted an invitation to open the High Street shop. He said he not only supported animal charities but kept some rescued chickens at his own home.

Shop manager Sharon Hunting said: “He said he was pleased to support what he called a very worthwhile charity.”

The branch was the 16th Blue Cross shop to be opened and the charity has since opened a 17th in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
