THE Trowbridge & District League were always going to be guarenteed one side in the quarter-final of this season's Wiltshire Junior Cup, but the outcome for the match between first division Calne Eagles and third division Trowbridge Rangers wasn’t the one that would have been expected as the latter claimed a 2-0 victory to book their place in the last eight.

AFTER moving back to the top of the Division Three last weekend, Ben Hogg’s table-topping Holt side made the most of their closest rivals cup commitments as an 11-1 victory at second from bottom The Stiffs allowed the villagers to open up five-point lead over United FC, who were in A&B Cup action and a seven point gap on White Horse, who missed out on a league match due to their Wilts Junior Cup involement.

Judging by the letters page, many residents have now realised just how much money is, and was, wasted by Wiltshire Council. I wonder how many people would have voted in a different way if they had known that even more staff redundencies were days away from the election.
