PEOPLE in Marlborough have expressed their shock after Marlborough College was the subject of a number of news articles when a male stripper was hired by pupils and performed in the grounds of the college.

Pupils from the £35,000 a year college allegedly hired the male dancer to arrive at the college grounds to perform for a number of the female sixth formers to mark the end of the school term.

Since the incident was published online, a number of people have been sharing the article on Facebook and other social media sites.

Aisling Jade Smith posted on Facebook : "It's like most private schools etc.... They're worse then public schools and colleges"

Tracy Campbell posted: "In my opinion it would appear, if true, someone's money spent on private education in a public school has been sadly wasted. As for the stripper there are far more damaging things that the pupils could have spent their money on."

Other commenters stated that the incident itself isn't anything to worry about and that it was all just for fun.

Mike Hurn posted: "I think we have more things to worry about in this country than a stripper in Marlborough college and anyway why can't they have fun at the end of term."

The school, which has past pupils such as the Duchess of Cambridge and Samantha Cameron, wife of Prime Minister David Cameron, issued a statement shortly after the pictures were published online.

A spokesperson from Marlborough College said: “It was inappropriate and the College does not condone the actions taken.”

The stripper claimed to have performed in the centre of the College’s campus, taking place on the last day of exams when students make the tradition to play pranks.

Councillor Mervyn Hall, speaking personally, said: "Well it is just a bit of high jynx. I would say it is just a bit of bad publicity for the college."

The Sun reported that girls as young as 13-years-old were on hand to watch the dancer before he performed for one of the sixth form pupils.

It quoted a source as saying: “Marlborough is one of the most expensive schools in the country. Parents do not expect their children to be watching a sex show.”

Allegedly the dancer’s fee of £90 was raised by pupils following an arrangement via the social networking application WhatsApp reported the newspaper.

The stripper, named only as Ross, told the newspaper: "I didn't know I would be performing at a school until I got there. I was told it was going to be for a girl's birthday.

"At the end of the day it was just a prank, and I didn't take all my clothes off."

A video recently posted online shows ‘Ross’ dancing in the middle of a circle of girls before picking one up and dancing with her. The older girls in the video are shown to be wearing fancy dress, to mark the end of the exams, with girls in school uniform standing alongside. The stripper is said to have allegedly thrown his underwear into the face of one of the bystanders.

Another witness source told The Sun: “A group of girls met the stripper at the school entrance and sneaked him into the court area — the central hub of the school.”
