THE TAPE for a new luxury nursing home was cut in front of more than 100 people, who had flocked to Little Somerford to get a sneak peak at the development which staff say brings nursing care into the 21st century.

Directors Norma and Chad Doveton welcomed guests to the opening of Hill House's latest wing on Monday and retired GP Nigel Pickering, who used to look after residents in the residential wing, helped officially open the new home.

The new wing, which is set among vast countryside and overlooks Dauntsey Vale, has 17 rooms, a large dining room and hall, a cafe and a bar and the Doveton's, who have been at the helm of Hill House for eight years, said they have listened to their residents and used their expertise to create the new wing.

"I think the opening went extremely well. We had over 100 guests and we showed everyone round and they all enjoyed some canapes," Mrs Doveton said. "Our other residents love it. They have all been very involved and they all describe Hill House as a home from home but we have got the care and friendliness with the feel of a hotel too.

"We have been here since 2008 and it came with a lot of land and one of our expertise is end of life care and nursing care and we wanted to build a nursing wing and we have. It is very 21st century and it is a very exciting time for all of us."
