A CHARITY shop in Chippenham was taken over by mobile phone workers for the day last week in a bid to raise more money than a usual day in the store.

Workers from Nokia’s Bristol base visited the shop in the Market Place last week.

Store manager Sue Tucker said: “It went very well. A group from Nokia came in to run the shop for the day to see if they could make more money than the usual staff do on an average Wednesday.

“We don’t know all the figures yet but it was a great day and something we would really like to do again. They went out and gave out flyers to people, and helped me with all the stock.

“They also sold raffle tickets to raffle off mobile phones in each shop. It was good to show them what works behind the scenes of a charity shop.

“It was definitely an eye opener for them because they said they didn’t realise how much work was involved in running a charity shop before they came here.”
