CALNE Speech and Drama School have picked up an impressive five awards at the Royal Wootton Bassett Arts Festival.

Alice Hall and Rhianna Winchester were awarded an RWBAF trophy for Duologue Acting in the under-nine section and went on to win the Patricia Read Memorial Trophy at the Highlights Concert for the most outstanding performance in the Junior Acting classes.

Hayley Latham and Will Haywood were successful in the Senior Duologue Acting category, performing Round and Round the Garden by Alan Ayckbourn, before picking up trophies for acting classes for the third consecutive year.

Principal of the Calne Speech and Drama School, Rosalind Patterson, said: "I was delighted. The children always work very hard and we have a lot of fun in the classes. It's rewarding to see them do so well.

"They do have to be focused and obviously learn their lines and concentrate on what they are doing and the hard work paid off. I'm very pleased and proud of them."

The school, which has been running for more than ten years, works with around 30 children from the ages of four to 17 on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
