THE contrast between the articles written by MPs Claire Perry and Michelle Donelan in the Gazette last week was striking.

Both MPs wished for a similar but different result from the referendum but Ms Perry’s reaction and outlook for the future was negative and downbeat whereas Ms Donelan, despite her disappointment at the outcome, was more positive pointing to a future with new opportunities.

It would be helpful if our MPs could now resonate with the upbeat outlook for the UK from one of the area’s biggest employers, Sir James Dyson, who has been a vociferous supporter of Brexit.

There is no going back on the result and there should be no question of a re-run referendum. It is not constructive or helpful now to complain about the tactics of the other side in the debate, whichever side was taken, so we must all pull our weight and make Brexit a success which I and millions of others believe it will be given time.
