I AM using the Gazette as a means to convey my thanks to the many people who showed concern and gave help in many ways on Thursday last in Devizes when I took a tumble as a result of my ankle giving way as I stepped on an uneven crack in the pavement slabs on the corner of Monday Market Street and Maryport Street.
I would like to mention two ladies in particular -– one from Avebury who sat with me for a while and the other from Manningford Bruce who not only sat with me for some time but then, when I felt rested, helped me walk to the nearby opticians and waited for me to collect my new specs.
She then helped me walk through to Sainsbury’s car park were I sat and waited for my village bus to pick me up at the usual time.
My heartfelt thanks to all concerned. I have been checked at my surgery and have been told my ankle is sprained and bruised – no thanks to the uneven pavement which I have reported to the council.
