I CANNOT be the only one who is absolutely disgusted at the paltry sum of £100 which Carolanne Spence has to pay back to the surgery, having stolen £90,000.
People must be asking: "What sort of justice system do we have in this country?" Surely, if she has passed this money to members of her family then those people also should be held responsible for paying it back.
According to the Gazette article, she is to be freed from prison on April 23, having served only a quarter of her sentence, which is equivalent to about five months. How can this equate to the amount of money stolen and the damage done to the surgery? Perhaps the money can be deducted from her benefits each week which I suppose she will now get, having lost her job.
