I CAN’T understand why a new primary care centre that is to be built in Marshall Road makes front page news in the Gazette & Herald.

It seems the only sort of things it will be doing are things that patients could travel to one of the large hospitals for.

We keep seeing money being spent on building this sort of centre, and we still don’t have a proper hospital.

When the community hospital closed, if only it had been refurbished and used as a psychiatric unit.

The money used to build Green Lane hospital and treatment centre and now this new one could have been used to give Devizes a proper general hospital.

Failing this, when the existing treatment centre was built, could it not have included the services that this new one is going to have?
