I RECENTLY had a successful total hip replacement at Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
Through your newspaper I would like to thank all the staff concerned, these being Mr Brookes, the surgeon, the staff on Aldbourne Ward and the community team in Devizes who were very helpful and reassuring once I got home and came regularly for the first eight weeks of my convalescence.
I would also like to particularly thank the hospital transport service run by Arriva. As I was non-weight bearing for the first six weeks, this was invaluable. I dread to think what a private ambulance would have cost. The staff were kind, efficient and very professional.
I would have no hesitation in recommending these services to anyone who needs them and am very thankful that the whole service is free. How lucky we are in this country.
