There is a proposal to build a new community facility for Cherhill on a green field at the corner of the A4 and Park Lane. A growing number of us believe this is inappropriate for any such development.
The green field in question is opposite the Cherhill Down which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We believe any building and associated large car park would be seen from the Down, as well as having an impact on the landscape around Cherhill. Park Lane is a conservation area. Any development on this field would also be extending the village boundary and may open up further development.
Having heard locals’ concerns about the consultation process currently under way, and concerns about the proposed site location, I started a petition and Facebook campaign to raise awareness of the potential detrimental impact of the scheme.
Hopefully your readers may wish to support us.
Susan Lambert, Cherhill.
