I was referred to the gym on medical grounds and was persuaded by the gym advisor that, as I was intending to visit the gym twice a week, it would be best to pay by direct debit, to which I agreed.
Although there were signs of the proposed closure, I did not notice and this was not mentioned when I was booking in prior to closure. It was not until my last wasted trip to the gym I was advised it was closed for two weeks for updates.
I was amazed to learn that no allowance was to be given for the closure period. I thought I had a contract with DC Leisure that, in return for my monthly payment, I could use the facilities of the gym. If they are unable to fulfil their part of the contract some form of monetary or time compensation should be allowed. Suggesting using their other venues miles away is not acceptable. Come on DC Leisure, do the right thing.
