I wish my fellow Wiltshire Independent councillor, Simon Killane, the best of luck in his campaign to get the council’s Northern Area planning committee changed back to afternoon meetings.
It’s high time that Wiltshire Council held its meetings to suit the residents of Wiltshire, rather than that of certain councillors.
It may have escaped the notice of certain councillors that most local residents are hard-working residents of the county, and can’t always get away for a 3pm meeting.
Calne Conservative councillor Tony Trotman says that councillors are too tired to attend evening meetings.
I have news for him. Dozens of hardworking parish and town councillors turn out on endless dark nights to attend meetings and Coun Trotman should note they aren’t paid like him.
Wiltshire Council claims to be the council ‘Where Everybody Matters’.
Maybe it’s time he proved it, listening to the residents who elected them.
Coun Terry Chivers, Independent Melksham Without North.
