The front page words in the Chippenham Gazette & Herald last week, ‘End of traffic jams?’, quite rightly included a question mark because enlarging Chippenam’s western bypass will make little difference to the ever-increasing traffic density. All it will do is to encourage more of the same.
When the M4 was being built, the MP of the day said it would solve all Chippenham’s traffic problems and would take the traffic away from Chippenham.
Those who heard these words at the meeting were convinced that we would finally have some much needed peace and quiet. Are we hearing the same old story again?
D Harvey, Brookwell Close, Chippenham.
