I am attaching a photo of Station Road car park on Saturday at 11am. Surely this proves that the majority of people aren’t using it – maybe because they have a five-minute walk to the Market Place! If there were some free spaces here for up to one hour, then maybe it would be better used (if people feel they can possibly walk the short distance). It seems that these days many people feel they have to park right outside of the premises they are visiting and in many other towns (and especially cities) this isn’t always possible. In Devizes there are a number of one-hour spaces at the roadside, so there should be a good turnover of vehicles.
My wish is for the Market Place to have a number of disabled parking places (at the bus stop end) with the rest for leisure and seating. Everyone seems to manage on market days and when there are other events taking place. Wouldn’t this be a great area for tourists to linger?
