As I’m sure other residents have, I have been growing increasingly annoyed with the inability of Sainsbury’s Devizes to exercise control of its shopping trollies.

On numerous occasions I have returned trollies to the store that have been left in local car parks. On other occasions I have telephoned or spoken to staff in the store giving them the location of trollies and asking that they arrange retrieval of them. Often this has met with an absence of action.

For example, there has been a new-looking small Sainsbury’s trolley at the Byron Road entrance of Drews Pond Woods for the best part of a week. I have reported this to the store.

Now for the good news. This morning when walking our dog I met a delightful chap who was actually collecting the trolley. He was from www.trolleywise.co.uk and told me that they didn’t receive any request for this particular trolley to be collected until July 1.

He told me that they react swiftly on requests for recovery of any trollies. What a brilliant service and I’m left wondering why local authorities don’t publicise it more proactively. The even better news is there is even a Trollywise app that can be downloaded.

However, I’m still left feeling disgusted that it’s Sainsbury’s who seem unable to take care of their trollies in the Devizes area. Come on Sainsbury’s, get a grip!
