Having read your Quote of the Week last week, why in heavens name should Network Rail have multi-language signs for drivers? If a huge articulated lorry much higher than said bridge drives along, the drivers should be alert to the situation (not a sat nav).
As for the canal, calamities alas are often as not caused by one or two individuals who have no idea on how to navigate the locks; perhaps there could be one or two volunteers to show the correct way to get through a lock.
Both of these circumstances call for a little common sense which also seems to be sadly lacking in this day and age.
