Why the politics?
12:00pm Friday 9th November 2012 in Letters
Tony Sedgwick’s letter last week sounds the right notes. Reference to the Home Office’s web site provides an outline of the responsibilities of the elected commissioner and it must be said that they are formidable and will need extraordinarily talented business managers to carry them out successfully.
When I received material from the Conservative party in regard to potential candidates, I was puzzled about the need for a political agenda and now that I see that all the candidates are politically affiliated, I am dumbfounded. What possible relevance can party politics have in such an appointment?
Those of us who are somewhat cynical about the capability of any individual who carries a political label will be pessimistic about the outcome.
