WOOTTON Bassett U17s overwhelmed visitors Trowbridge 52-7 in the Dorset & Wilts Cup at Stoneover Lane.

The home squad contained eight players from the U16 team, but they were in control straightaway and wing Kyle Burroughs touched down after a pass from scrum-half Greg Davies.

Andy Saunders and Sam Bardwell were next over, Davies adding the extras, before Trowbridge got on the board with a converted try.

Ryan Warren’s driving run and score made it 26-7 at half time and the fierce pace of the game continued in the second half.

Burroughs sliced through to score his second try in the corner, Davies converting and further scores followed from captain Gavin Ougan, Bardwell, and replacement Rob Hart, Davies converting twice for a personal haul of 12 points.

CHIPPENHAM U15 were similarly rampant as they swamped Marlborough 77-0 in the county cup.

Parry, Cary, two, Taylor, Westcombe, Brown, two, Moore, two, Gough, Treacy, Broughton all crossed for tries.

Taylor, Blundell, Treacy and Brown added five conversions between them.

CORSHAM U11s emerg-ed from their trip to Bath side Avon with a draw and a defeat in matches against the hosts and Tetbury.

Facing a U11/U12 mix from Tetbury, Corsham fell behind just before half time, but James Phillips tied the scores in the second half.

Against Avon, Corsham were 2-0 down early on and, despite accurate kicking from William Cornwell, they were unable to capitalise and lost 5-0.
