LEROY Houston says Bath Rugby will be coming up against “giant killers” when they do battle with Worcester Warriors on Sunday.

Warriors have adapted to life back in the Aviva Premiership pretty well following last season’s promotion, with two wins from the opening six games.

One of those came against Northampton Saints, who topped the table in 2014-15, and they sit just one point behind a Bath side who reached the Premiership final last term.

The contest is a must-win for Bath as they look to halt their stuttering start to the campaign but Houston says the victory is far from certain at The Rec.

“It’s a tough one, there’s no doubt about that,” said number eight Houston.

“We see them as giant killers. They are capable of beating anyone as they proved against Northampton. They will come strong.

“They are a side that are strong at the set-piece so we know what we have to work on. We’ve been focussing a lot on that in training so we have a plan for them.

“We are taking this game very seriously and we need to start winning games and the best way to do that is to prepare well.”

Bath were crushed 36-10 at home by Wasps in the European Champions Cup last weekend and Houston says the team owe their supporters a response.

That was Bath’s first defeat in the continental competition so qualification is still in their hands.

However, with two games against three-time winners Toulon as well as a trip to Irish giants Leinster to come, reaching the knockout stages is far from a formality.

Houston added: “We owe our fans everything. They are so important to us, especially in this tricky spell we are going through at the moment.

“They turn up at The Rec and there isn’t a lot of cover so they have to sit in the rain but they always get behind us and we’d like to give back to them.

“I think our scrums let us down a bit on Saturday. They got the upper hand there and we ended up giving away a few penalties. That’s usually a part of the game where we are strong so that was disappointing.

“But take nothing away from Wasps, they were very good and Jimmy Gopperth was outstanding. Every time I looked up from a scrum or a ruck he had put his back in our own 22.

“It’s a tough pool and we’ve just got to take it week by week.

“We have still got two hard teams to come up against but I’m excited about it as they are two teams that have got an amazing history in this competition.

“Those are the games that you want to play in.”
