CALNE ended 2016 undefeated at home as they thumped Chippenham 3rd 67-10 in Dorset & Wilts Two North.

Chippenham took an early lead through a penalty awarded for offside but from the restart, Calne attacked Chippenham's defensive line and Brian Hopkins' vision set up Rhys Taylor for their first try of the afternoon.

Chippenham responded with a converted try of their own to regain the lead but with prop Pete Brownlie, hooker Dave Evans and captain Tom Morten dominant in the scrums and Keith Bradley his usual reliable self at the lineout, Calne started to get on top.

Player-coach Alan Wicks had a solid game and ball at the breakdown and scrum-half Dan Treacy unleashed Adam Young, Taylor and Liam Kearney who all broke through tackles as Calne ran riot.

Further scores from the ever-reliable full-back Mark Webber, two more for Taylor, Dan Treacy, Jamie Palmer, Bradley and Adam Young secured an impressive win.

In the second half Cameron Evans - son of hooker Dave Evans - made his debut while Dan Oakford, Nick Doe-Wansey and prop Tom Storm were introduced.

But returning winger Jay Watkin did the late damage, scoring three times to wrap up victory.

Captain Morten said: "It was a good win against a spirited Chippenham side who never gave up.

"We played some great stuff at times and if we can add a bit consistently we will be very hard to beat.
