PEWSEY produced another top-drawer performance with a six-try bonus-point success in Dorset & Wilts Two North.

With five enforced changes from the previous week the versatility and character of the Vale squad shone through, the home side opening the scoring with a penalty from centre James Campbell when the visitors were caught offside.

Cricklade responded in kind but Pewsey gradually gained the ascendancy and the scores came with tries from hooker Jeremy Horton and fly-half Joe Tavaga, both converted by Campbell.

The visitors scored a converted try before half time but from the restart Pewsey pressure forced a penalty, Campbell kicking the three points.

Solid forward play, with total dominance at the scrum, gave Vale a platform from which four second-half, long-range tries were run in.

Number eight Phil Vallis was first up with a fine individual effort bursting through several tackles on his way to the line.

Cricklade again fought back, Vale flanker Chris Bartley being yellow-carded as they were awarded a penalty try.

But being down to 14 men did not blunt the home team's attack.

In the ten minutes remaining, prop Tom Baish dashed in to touch down and then wing Tony Bloomfield scored two tries, Campbell adding a conversion.
