WILTSHIRE Paralympic heroine Anne Dunham has been included in Great Britain's squad for the FEI Para-Equestrian Dressage European Championships in Denmark next month.

Broad Hinton's Dunham, 64, is included in the five-strong line-up, riding LJT Lucas Normark in Grade Ia in Herning, joining Sophie Christiansen, Ricky Balshaw, Natasha Baker and Sophie Wells.

Dunham, who missed out on selection for the 2012 London Paralympics, said: "It’s fantastic; I’m absolutely over the moon. It’ll be the first Championships that Lucas has competed at for GB, he really deserves it and it’s great that he’ll be competing on home soil (the horse is Danish-born).

"I’m really pleased that the Championships are fully integrated, I think it will make it a really great event and I’m looking forward to it enormously.”

The event takes place from August 21-25

World-Class Performance Manager for Para-Equestrian Dressage David Hunter said: “The riders selected for this year’s European Championships are once again a very strong combination, covering experience and newcomers. Selection is never a straightforward process and I’m very grateful to the selectors.

Will Connell, Equestrian Performance Director added: "It’s fantastic that we have members of last year’s successful British team representing Great Britain again, this time on the European stage, and it’s great to see Ricky and Anne back on the squad.”

Christiansen said: “After last year it’s such an honour to be on the team again representing Great Britain.

"I think we have a really strong team again this year, and it’s great to have Anne back on the team, so in Grade Ia we can really push each other.

All the riders will contest the individual and freestyle medal events in their respective grades. In addition the four riders to compete in the team will be named on event.

The British team are the current holders of the European, World and Paralympic team titles.
