TOMMY Bridewell headed into the summer break in buoyant mood after two more high finishes in the latest rounds of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch.

The Etchilhampton rider, 21, finished fifth in the opening race after battling his way up from 14th on the grid.

The Supersonic Racing team ace confirmed his consistency by seizing seventh spot in race two, finishing 0.001 seconds ahead of Honda’s Ian Lowry.

The championship returns at the end of August (25-27) when the teams reconvene at Yorkshire’s Cadwell Park circuit.

Bridewell said: “Race day was obviously a bit better than the qualifying.

“We had a good race pace, which we knew all weekend. “I was happy with my fifth position from 14th on the grid in race one.

“In race two we got mixed up with a few slower riders but I still managed to pull it back to seventh.

“We gained some good points, which were the main target all weekend so overall I can be happy.’’ Bridewell holds an an 11-point advantage over factory Yamaha’s Noriyuki Haga, who lies in sixth position.
