CHIPPENHAM driver Kyle Tilley has been invited to drive the Lamborghini Gallardo LP56 for Rhino’s Leipert Motorsport in the British GT Championship at Silverstone in September.

Tilley, 24, a former winner of the Castle Combe Formula Ford 1600 Pre 90 series, received the invitation from the German-based team and is currently attempting to raise the necessary £10,000 budget to allow him to race.

“I received an email from the team out of the blue,” said former Sheldon School pupil Tilley, who is sponsored by West of England Property Management and Westfield Medical.

“I was recommended to them and they have asked me to drive at Silverstone. “I’m obviously very pleased as they are one of the top European teams.”

With a wealth of racing experience already behind him, Tilley acknowledges that competing in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship will be his biggest challenge yet – and a great chance to secure a permanent drive in the 2013 British GT Championship.

“I’ve raced in the British Endurance Championship before now but that isn’t quite as prestigious. This is definitely my biggest opportunity to date,” he said.

“The team have said that I will race in September with a view to driving for them on a full-time basis next year. To be honest that was my aim anyway.

“This will be the first time I have driven a Lamborghini. It will be fully supported by the factory over in Italy.’’
