CHIPPENHAM-BORN Danny Kent has become the first British motorcycling Grand Prix champion for 38 years after clinching the Moto3 Championship by six points in the final race in Valencia.
Kent, 21, finished ninth on his Honda, having begun from 18th on the grid and needing a finish of 14th or above to land the title.
The Leopard Racing rider, who is now based in Tetbury, emulates Barry Sheene, the last British champion, who won the 500cc in 1977.
