CHIPPENHAM maintained their unbeaten start to the Davis Wood League North Division One campaign but were unable to break down their Welsh visitors.
Penarth started strongly but were kept at bay with Chris Sampson and Sam Copeland prominent as Chippenham started to attack.
The game then turned into a midfield affair with Ben Snell, Ben Jones, Luke Morris and Adam Cruse working hard.
Neat interchanges between Craig Stewart and Morris, allowed Selwyn Widger to get a shot in that was saved.
The hosts started the second half in similar fashion, but Penarth came on strong again and it needed solid tackling from Stuart Blake and Copeland, backed up by another strong performance from Guy Barrett in goal, to keep them at bay.
After an exchange of passes between Sampson and Morris, Snell just failed to collect the ball for a scoring chance.
Morris then set up George Claverley, who shot with Morris unmarked.
