NEW North Wilts club captain Paul Stephenson’s Drive-In saw 69 pairs play in a fourball better ball competition.

The winning pair were Nigel Waring and Andy Myles, scoring 42 points from John Allen and Andy Potter (41 on countback) and Mark Roberts and Karl Hatala in third.

Stephenson and ladies captain Phillipa Stevens were fifth behind Alan Blake and Malcolm Mathieson.

MANOR House club and members have paid a lasting tribute to founder captains Roger Horler and Kirstie Maxwell by unveiling a new clock in their memory.

Horler, a former West Bromwich Albion footballer, and Maxwell were men’s and ladies’ captains at the venue in its first two years, 1992 and 1993, and continued to be members until they died earlier this year.

The clock, near to the first tee, was paid for by money raised by the membership, the club paying for its plinth and commemorative plaque.

The timepiece was unveiled by Horler’s widow Kate and Maxwell’s widower Tim.

Andrew Ryan, golf operations and retail manager at The Manor House, said: “Roger and Kirstie did so much for the club, especially in its formative years, and they will both be sadly missed.

“The clock is a fitting tribute and lasting memorial to all the hard work they put in.”
