JACK Barthram and Jake Reeves were on the scoresheet as a Swindon Town development Team beat Forest Green Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly earlier today.

As well the goals from Barthram and Reeves, scholars Amir Gied and Josh Cook scored in the 5-1 success.

Boss Mark Cooper thought the run-out had been a worthwhile exercise for the players on the fringes of the first team.

"It was great for the boys who haven't had a lot of minutes," he said. "They had a strong team: Jon Parkin, Magno Vieira, Sam Wedgebury, David Pipe and Luke Oliver are all first team players so our boys did really well.

"We had a lot of young players in the team and it was a good performance, very professional. Jake Reeves, George Barker, Jack Barthram, Ty Belford and Darren Ward all played and the rest was made up of the younger lads.

"We were 1-0 down at half time and then young Tommy Smith came on and was outstanding. All the professionals that played were really good so it was good exercise as well as good minutes for them."
