WILTSHIRE juniors kicked off this year’s Inter-County adventure with some solid Stage One performances.
With no U19 teams entered this year, the Boys U17s flew the flag as the senior team as they faced teams from Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Buckinghamshire.
After being awarded walkover wins against Worcestershire, Wiltshire suffered a heavy loss to Buckinghamshire before defeating Gloucestershire 3-2 to claim second spot.
The U15 and U13s teams also qualified for Stage Two with second place finishes. The U15s lost to Gloucestershire, however, 3-2 wins over Oxfordshire and South East Wales, where there were wins for St John’s trio Jonny Jarjis, George Gibbins and James Rance, saw them through.
The U13s defeated hosts Gloucestershire 5-0, as well winning by the same scoreline against Berkshire, before losing 4-1 to Warwickshire.
The boys U11 team beat hosts Oxfordshire in their Stage One match, however, they were unable to get the better of Gloucestershire or Buckinghamshire.
The girls U11s lost both of their two games against Hampshire and Sussex, while the U15s suffered defeats to both South East Wales and Devon.
