GEORGE Wardley became the youngest-ever holder of the Ramsbury Tennis Club’s men’s singles title.

Fourteen year old Wardley defeated Will Riggall 6-2, 6-4 in an entertaining match at the club’s annual finals’ day.

Riggall then teamed up with David Langton to win the men’s doubles by defeating Ewan Allman and Lionel Barnes 6-1, 6-1.

Langton went on to win his second trophy in the the mixed doubles, with Annabel Wade, when they overcame Rupert Tate and Melissa Brown 6-4, 6-1.

The ladies singles and doubles were won on walk overs due to Harriet Eyles injuring her arm.

That meant that Wade picked up two more trophies, the singles and the doubles, with her partner Amelia Tester.

The mixed doubles plate final, which saw Barnes and Gill Devey defeat Ewan and Clare Allman 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, lasted two-and-a-half hours.

Wardley also won The Mary Chamberlain Cup for Junior of the year for his outstanding season.
