MARK Knight’s hat-trick helped Chippenham to their first win of the season in Conference North as they defeated Yate 4-2.

Craig Kilminster bagged the other for the hosts.

n Chippenham’s A team also enjoyed a 4-2 success as they defeated Minehead in Central Two.

However, it was the hosts who took the lead in Somerset as they capitalised on early Chippenham mistakes.

The Wiltshire side had to wait until the second half to draw level when returning striker Henry Elias dispatched a penalty stroke five minutes into the period.

Chippenham then dominated their hosts and after nullifying their midfield, Henry Price buried the ball to give the visitors the lead.

Elias made it 3-1 to Chippenham with his second of the match with a reverse stick strike before Minehead pulled a goal back.

The visitors sealed the win when Price completed his brace from a penalty corner routine.

n Simon Gubbin’s second half goal was not enough to prevent Chippenham B falling to a 6-1 defeat at Yate in East Central One.

n Chippenham C moved up to fifth in East Central Two following their 3-0 win over the club’s D side.

Rhys Merriman gave the ‘hosts’ the lead in the first half before second-half strikes from Neil Stewart and Tim McKendrick sealed the win.

n Royal Wootton Bassett moved into the third round of the Vase Cup following a penalty flicks win at Gloucestershire-based Cleevillians.

The hosts took the lead in the ninth minute, before man-of-the-match Craig McLauchlin levelled the scores when slotting the ball through the keeper’s legs after some good work from Matt Daniell.

After the break, Cleevillians restored the lead with a fine solo effort goal, however, a last-gasp strike from Tom Ponting saw Bassett take the tie to penalty flicks.

Mark Turner, Ponting, Mark Tolley, Daniell and Will Fieldsend all duly dispatched their flicks before Jack Rose saved the hosts final flick to send Bassett through.

n Devizes men came from 4-1 down in their Conference North derby with Swindon to draw 4-4.

The visitors stormed into a 3-0 lead in the first half before Devizes reduced arrears early in the second period.

Swindon grabbed their fourth with 20 minutes remaining, however, the hosts never gave up and grabbed a share of the spoils following Jude Coates leveller with seven minutes left on the clock.

n Devizes ladies 2nd enjoyed a fine victory over Royal Wootton Bassett 3rd in Wessex Division Two.

Soraya Pegden led the way with a hat-trick, while Sophie Garbutt and Becci Meredith was also on target. Seren Church was player-of-the-match.
