CHIPPENHAM Amateur Swimming Club had seven of their swimmers entered in round one of the Wiltshire Masters Championships held recently at the Swindon’s Link Centre.

The Chippenham competitiors swam a total of 18 events and won an impressive 11 medals - among them being six gold, four silver and one bronze.

Henry Moore topped the standings over all age groups in the 50m backstroke and was also second in age group in the 100m butterfly as well as sixth in age group in the 100m freestyle.

Matt Hare was age group third in the 50m backstroke, but also topped the lists in the 100m butterfly, second in the 25m breaststroke and fourth in age group in the 100m freestyle.

Peter Holden led the way in his 25m breaststroke age group and was also fifth in the 50m backstroke, as well as seventh in age group in the 100m freestyle.

Shaun Cairns had two fourth places in age group over the 50m backstroke and 25m breaststroke and added a sixth-placed finish in the 100m freestyle.

For Matt Cairns, there was victory in the 100m butterfly in his age group and he was also second in group in the 100m freestyle.

George Claverle led the way in the 100m freestyle over all age groups, while Jack Cook was first in his age group in the same event.

Moore, Cairns, Hare and Cook also swam in the 4x100m medley relay and came second in their age group.

Chippenham ASC came seventh overall in the competition with 27 points.
