STAFFORD Tri’s James Jennings held off the challenge of local runner Mike Milstead to win the fourth EventsLogicUK Devizes Half Marathon on Sunday.

Jennings clocked one hour 17 minutes and 52 seconds to finish ahead of Milstead, who stayed in contention until the final stages before crossing the line in 1:18.39.

Third place went to James Kitching (Thames Valley) in 1:19.35.

The women’s race was won by Natalie Plummer for the second consecutive year in a new course record of 1:24.27.

She was followed home by Penelope Freeman, representing the Royal Navy, in 1:33.26,with Lisa Newing third in 1:36. 30, representing Bristol and West AC.

Age group winners included Peter Cross (over 60 men) Peter Keen (over 50 men) Chris Penny (over 40 men) Sue Stewart-Tanner (over 55 Women) Carole Phillips ( over 45 women)and Freeman ( over 35 women .

The team prizes were won by Swindon Harriers in both the male and female categories.

  • THE 33rd running of the popular Corsham St Georges 10k road race/fun run will be taking place on Sunday, April 19, starting at 11am.

There is also a two-kilometre Fun Run, aimed principally at children, which will start at 9.30am.

Organisers have limited the numbers able to enter to 1,200 and for the first time, to not allow any further entries on the day.
