UNATTACHED competitor Chris Burton stormed home to win the sprint event at the Events Logic UK Bowood Duathlon on Sunday.

Burton blitzed the course, around the grounds of Bowood House, completing his two five kilometre runs and 21km bike ride in one hour 18 minutes for a successful conclusion to his season.

Elizabeth Hood, from the 9 Endurance club, was the first woman home, roaring through all three sections to finish in one hour and 27 minutes, putting her 19th overall.

The third running of the Bowood event also saw a super-sprint duathlon take place, competitors tackling two 2.5km runs and a 12km bike ride.

In the men’s race, Will Crudgington was the first to finish in a time of 41:21 in his first experience of the Bowood course.

He said: “This was good fun and great surroundings at Bowood for the competition. I’m really pleased with my performance and will be back for more next year.’’

Rosie Weston was the first to finish the women’s super-sprint event, in a time of 48.59.
