DARREN Walters raged at the referee after his struggling Devizes Town team were humbled at home by Wells City.
Robbie Mitchell’s early goal provided scant consolation for Devizes, who had both Jordon Matthews and Alex Surman sent off inside 35 minutes, leading Walters to branded the match official’s performance ‘inept’.
“I’m not one to usually complain about referees but he was inept and shouldn’t have been in charge of the game,” said the Devizes manager.
“Their player has ran into our centre-half and he’s given a penalty – nobody in the ground thought it was.
“Then, our centre-forward (Matthews) has reacted to a challenge but it was pushing and shoving and handbags, and he’s sent him off.
“Alex Surman, who got booked for dissent after the penalty, got booked for a tackle which was a yellow card, but there were probably 15 tackles by them just like that in our half and they weren’t punished - that was our frustration."
