Aces were a shade of the team that won last weekend as they had to call in as many as six of their Reserve team players to fulfill the fixture, which played into the hands of a Semington side who did what they had to do to claim a 2-0 win.

With neither team able to find an opening in the first half, Semington had the chance to break the deadlock on 55 minutes but Sean O’Brien missed from the penalty spot.

It was left to Paul Gittins to unlock Aces, having been awarded another penalty Gittins took on the reasonability and fired home from the spot to make it 1-0 and Gittins capped an impressive display with a second to wrap the tie up.

The all-second division cup clash between Zeals and The Stiffs went the way of the latter who completed a hat-trick of wins over Jason Carter’s side a 5-2 win setting them up with a second round trip to Semington Magpies.

A double from Steve Lewin and Rob Clark’s single gave Stiffs a comfortable three goal lead at the interval and although a quick goal from Joao Rodrigues at the start of the second half may have got the Stiffs nerves jangling their regained the ascendancy via Chris Giles who headed home for 4-1.

Darren Brewer put the game to bed for the Stiffs and despite substitute Matt Carter scoring a late second for Zeals it was little more than a consolation as Stiffs were well worth their win.
