A GOAL either side of the interval saw Devizes Town downed by Warminster Town in their last home game of the season on Easter Monday.

Devizes were looking to bounce back from their 5-1 hammering at Calne Town on Good Friday and shaded the early stages at Nursteed Road.

However, Tom Golledge pounced on a defensive mix-up to put the visitors in front before the break and Brian Smith then doubled the advantage early in the second half.

Devizes joint manager Justin Webster said: “It was a really close game for the first half-hour.

“We had a lot of set plays which we didn’t make the most of and then ended up finding ourselves 1-0 down.

“However long it’s 1-0 then you have still got a chance but they got the second goal about 30 seconds into the second half and that knocked the stuffing out of us really.

“We have done well against the better teams, we’ve got Cribbs next and we beat them 3-1 earlier in the season.

“It’s against the teams around us that we haven’t done so well and that’s the disappointing thing.”
