JOINT-MANAGER Darran Walters is predicting more nip and tuck encounters for Devizes Town when they take on two local rivals this Easter weekend.
On Saturday, Devizes edged out Corsham Town 1-0 at Nursteed Road, with Robbie Mitchell scoring a second half free-kick but missing the chance to double his side’s lead from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the area, with the visitors having a man sent off for the challenge leading to the spot-kick.
Devizes men travel to Calne Town on Good Friday (kick-off 3pm) before hosting Warminster Town on Easter Monday (kick-off 3pm) and Walters is expecting those games to be anything but straightforward.
“We lost 1-0 to Calne earlier in the season and we beat Warminster 3-2. They were tight games and these ones won’t be any different,” said the Nursteed Road joint-boss.
“It was a much-needed three points on Saturday but it wasn’t the greatest game. Corsham shaded it in the first half but I thought that we deserved to win it after the second half."
Corsham Town manager Trevor Rawling says that his options for Saturday’s derby at Devizes were hamstrung.
He said: “We played the reserves because we’ve got so many players out at the moment.
“It wasn’t a great game to be honest. “There weren’t really many bright spots for us. There wasn’t much we could take out of the game."
