STUART Windsor’s sixth goal in five games wasn’t enough for Calne Town to get the better of Almondsbury UWE last weekend.

The two teams had shared eight goals in a thrilling 4-4 draw in November last year but Simon McElroy’s winner ensured that the visitors came out on top at Bremhill View.

Tom Boakes almost caught out the visiting keeper with an early lob and in the 23rd minute, the Calne man’s delivery was beaten away, only for the arriving Windsor to calmly head the Lilywhites into the lead.

The visitors soon attempted to hit back, with Aaron Hopkins firing wide of the mark before they levelled things up six minutes before the break, a free-kick caused chaos in the home area and Nick Rugman’s diving header restored parity.

With 64 minutes on the clock, Almondsbury got their winner and saw off Simon Gardner’s men as McElroy’s 20-yard effort whizzed into the net past Steve Allison.
