THIRD-PLACED Devizes Town Reserves got back to winning ways with a 1-0 success at home to FC Chippenham Youth.

Devizes were out of sorts in the first period but responded to a stern half-time talk from boss Scott Clark and upped their game after the restart, with Adam Bewley grabbing the all-important goal after a spillage from the Chippenham keeper.

“I’d have to say we actually played quite poorly but the fact we were still able to come away with a win is a big thing and that bodes well for us,” said Clark.

“They were the better team in the first up but we fired them up at the break and Adam was able to get the goal after their keeper spilled a shot.

“I’d like to think we are capable of finishing in the top four but it’s difficult when you’re a reserves side as sometimes you lose players to the first team.

“This weekend we’ve got Sarum Youth away and teams like those are the ones we have to beat if we want to finish as high as we can.”

Bottom side Westbury United Reserves put their recent woes behind them to claim just a second victory of the season.

Jason Edwards’ side were emphatic 9-0 winners at home to Wootton Bassett Town Dev.

Malmesbury Victoria moved into the top four by narrowly getting the better of a 5-4 thriller on their trip to Shrewton United.

Corsham Town Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Wilts Calne Town and it was also honours even as Sarum Youth hosted Malmesbury Victoria, with the two finishing level at 2-2.
