GEORGE Nash struck ten minutes from time to secure Chippenham Park a midweek win on the road at Wells City.

Park were somewhat fortunate to go into half-time level after giving away a penalty but Connor Johns pulled off an outstanding save to thwart Tom Manning.

Dave Ferris’ side moved up a gear in the second half and finally sealed the win when Nash found the net after numerous other chances had been wasted.

“Wells are a good side and played some nice football but if we’d won by two or three goals I don’t think anyone could have complained,” said Ferris.

“Connor pulled off a fantastic save from the penalty but it would have been a bit of an injustice for us to be behind at half-time as we had the chances but just didn’t put them away.

“We changed to 4-4-2 in the second half and dominated possession and territory.

“A few efforts went high, wide and handsome but, fortunately, George went on one of his mazy runs and squeezed the ball inside the keeper’s near post.”

Park travel to local rivals Devizes Town on Saturday.
