TOM Ritchie was the best man for Pewsey Vale as his goal earned the Ball Road side a 1-0 victory in their rearranged trip to Andover New Street last Friday night.

Vale were forced to make the trip to Hampshire on Friday due after New Street’s clubhouse was hired out for a wedding party on Saturday but in-form Ritchie sealed all three points for Nick Maggs’ men as he struck his sixth goal in three successive Pewsey wins.

“Andover had booked their clubhouse out for a wedding so when they asked us about going there on Friday instead, we were happy to do it,” said Vale manager Maggs.

“A lot of the lads work on a Saturday, or can get work on a Saturday, so it was a case of two birds with one stone for them.

“Was it a good performance? No.

“It was a poor game, played on a poor pitch, played in bad conditions, against a side that weren’t the greatest.

“But we came away with three points and that was great for us.”

Vale go looking to stretch their winning run to four matches when they host Laverstock & Ford next weekend.
