DARRAN Walters has his fingers crossed that Devizes Town have ‘turned the corner’ after notching up a third successive victory last weekend.

Devizes had gone seven matches without a win but are now back on-song, beating Portishead Town 3-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from the returning Kris Beasley and strikers Blaine Fitzgerald and Matt Minnis.

“The morale had been a bit low but hopefully we’ve turned the corner now,” said joint-manager Walters.

“It has been difficult and people have been frustrated but we’re just had to play through it.

“Having Kris Beasley back was important for us. He’d been out for a long time with a hamstring injury and brings a lot to us.”

Devizes may be forced to look into boosting their frontline options after striker Minnis, who has hit 9 goals in 12 games, rejoined Bradford Town this week.

Regular goalkeeper Matt Tilley is unavailable for Saturday’s Les Phillips Cup tie at Cadbury Heath, meaning Walters’ son Adam comes in to play alongside his brother Jamie for the first time at senior level.
