WILTSHIRE rider Holly Woodhead maintained her position among the medal contenders as world and Olympic champions Germany took command of the team competition after the second day of dressage at the Longines FEI European Eventing Championship in Scotland today.
Woodhead, based at Coate in Swindon, was a surprise leader after the opening day of dressage on Thursday with DHI Lupison.
The youngster, who is competing as an individual after not being included in Great Britain's four-strong selection for the team event, was ousted from top spot by reigning world champion Sandra Auffarth and Opgun Louvo today, but remained in silver medal position.
Olympic individual Michael Jung sits third with Fischer Takinou and Ingrid Klimke is eighth, on Horseware Hale Bob, helping Germany to the head of the team standings.
Britain are in second spot, wih Lower Stanton St Quintin rider Kitty King sixth individually with Persimmon.
