CORSLEY rider Katie Vincent took second place in the Mitsubishi Motors Grassroots Championships BE90 section at the Badminton Horse Trials yesterday.

With a final score of 26.1 penalties, Vincent took home second place in the hotly-contested BE90 Championship.

Riding Alexis Symes’ piebald gelding Glen Carter, the combination battled challenging conditions throughout the completion to ensure two faultless jumping rounds.

With nothing to add from the morning’s showjumping phase and a clear round inside the time across country, Vincent completed her championship with a 1.2 penalty lead over third place in a class boasting nearly 90 starters.

The combination have never been placed lower than fourth in British Eventing affiliated competition at BE90/BE100 level and in 2015 so far have won at Moreton BE90, fourth at Howick BE10 and fourth at Bovington BE100.

Vincent works with horses as well as raising calves and farming part time. She also enjoys baking and kick boxing in her spare time.

The Championships were created to offer amateur riders a unique chance to ride across the same hallowed turf as their sporting idols at the top of the sport at Badminton Horse Trials and have been held since 2010 on the two days before the world famous Horse Trials.
