MATT Jones’s goal on 73 minutes, his first in a Bluebirds shirt, looked like being enough to see Chippenham through to the next round of the FA Trophy, but two goals in the final five minutes saw them exit a national cup competition for the second week running.

The first half saw neither side really impose itself as a fifth-minute corner saw Charlie Davis blast over. On 16 minutes Andy Sandell’s cross found Jones eight yards out but he sliced his shot wide.

Dorchester had claims for a penalty ignored when player-manager Mark Jermyn went to ground after a challenge from Greg Tindle. After Sandell had fired over Dorchester’s Jake Smeeton’s cross found Bradley Tarbuck whose low shot was saved by Kent Kauppinen.

Jermyn’s fierce drive was then held by Kauppinen whilst a Jones free kick saw Alan Walker-Harris gather the ball at the second attempt.

After the break Tarbuck’s shot on the turn was held by Kauppinen. Chippenham took the lead when substitute Ryan Campbell found Jones out wide and he let fly from 30 yards leaving Walker-Harris stranded.

Four minutes later Jonah Ayunga fired over from outside of the box. Ben Watson equalised on 85 minutes when his shot went through Kauppinen’s legs. Four minutes later Kauppinen dropped the ball and Matt Oldring back-heeled the winner.
