MARLBOROUGH continued their assault on the top two in WEPL Wiltshire as they clinched a third straight win on Saturday.

Having disposed of the top two - Trowbridge and Marshfield - in the previous two weeks, George Fox’s side went third in the table with a 100-run cruise past lowly Calne.

An opening partnership of 68 between Nick Crabbe (54) and Fraser Gordon (39) gave the visitors a perfect platform to post a target of 209-5 from their 50 overs, Peter Day adding 47 from 60 balls.

Andrew Windsor’s 3-41 from seven overs was the pick of Calne’s bowling, but despite a sold start from Jordan Butler (24) and Paul Tayler (12), their run chase proved shortlived.

Three wickets each for Mohan Balusu (3-48) and David West (3-33), plus two each for Gordon and Fox shattered their hopes, Calne subsiding to 109 all out in the 24th over.

Marshfield kept hot on the heels of leaders Trowbridge as they swept aside bottom club Malmesbury by nine wickets.

Will Pascall teed up success for James Williams’ side, taking 4-45 in nine overs, including a hat-trick to dismiss Mark Toseland, Richard Gaunt and Mark Compton in Malmesbury’s middle order.

Resistance was scarce from the away side, save for James Pearce-Smith’s 26 and an unbeaten 27 from Bradley Toseland as Jeremy Bond took 3-35 to help dismiss them for 162.

The run chase proved easy pickings for the hosts, Russell Lodge hitting an unbeaten 63 and helping Nic Badings (34) see them home in the 28th over, Bond also weighing in with a half-century.

Devizes found themselves under the cosh from the Swindon batsmen as they failed to climb out of the drop zone after a 199-run hammering.

A 161-run four-wicket stand between Marc Williamson (108) and Alex Kill (85) did most of the damage in the hosts’ mammoth 347-6 in their 50 overs, opener Sean Parker adding 67.

Devizes were never truly in the hunt in reply, Joseph Ford top-scoring with 43 and skipper Tom Grant adding 34, as Douglas Baartman’s 3-35 sent them on the way to 148 all out.

It was a similar story for Great Bedwyn, who were on the receiving end of a 79-run defeat by table-toppers Trowbridge.

An unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 165 between Sam Julyan (101 not out) and skipper Mike Reynolds (94 not out) set up Trowbridge for 258-3, Ryan Pietersen adding 40.

Chris Blundy, with an unbeaten 39, top scored for Bedwyn, Scott Mitchell taking 3-25 for Trowbridge to secure a 79-run win.
