CAPTAIN Arran Dickinson is urging his Marlborough side not to give up on their Wiltshire Division title dream after they brought their three-match losing run to an end last weekend.

Marlborough moved back up to second in the table after getting back to winning ways at Calne on Saturday, with Dickinson’s men 36 points behind table-toppers Trowbridge with four games to go.

“We’ve got four games left. I said to the guys after the game on Saturday that we have to win them all and if we do that, we’ll be there or thereabouts,” said the Marlborough skipper.

“Trowbridge and (third-placed) Westbury play each other next weekend and then we play Trowbridge the week after – things could change.

“In the last few weeks, we hadn’t been getting the basics right. Whether we were batting or bowling first, we were putting pressure on the other part of the game.

“We didn’t really have any good partnerships at Calne but we still set a good total and like we did against Purton the week before, we bowled really well.”

Brad Frost (48), Mark Wingfield-Digby (44) and Dickinson (43) helped Marlborough post 247-7 at Beversbrook before Ben Head tore through Calne, finishing with figures of 5-31.

Stuart Windsor hit 58 but the hosts were skittled for 165 early in the 41st over.

Elsewhere, Malmesbury moved out of the bottom three by claiming the scalp of high-flying Westbury, James Pearce-Smith making 38 as the home side posted 180 all out after little more than 43 overs.

But Josh Langley and Jack Ward both claimed three wickets as Westbury were dismissed for 162.

Marshfield went down by 65 runs at Trowbridge, with the home side all out for 244 before James Williams’ 77 proved in vain as his team were skittled for 179.

Devizes fell by five wickets at Purton whilst Great Bedwyn were edged out by 15 runs at Winsley, who posted 203 all out before the visitors were restricted to 189, despite John Palmer’s 68.
